I live in rural New Brunswick which provides most of the subject matter of my paintings. I have a three-wheeled bicycle with a large basket on the back where I can store my paints, a chair and a table and anything else needed. When I am painting, I am in a world of pure concentration. My goal is to create spontaneous, balanced and authentic works of art with the hope that people who see my art will feel the same kind of pleasure that I do.

Yellow Roses (1961), Oil on Canvas Board, 18 x 14
Here is the second painting of a pair. Then I did not have the high regard for colour values that I have now. One thing I remember doing in these paintings was that after I had meticulously painted the flowers, I mixed up all the colours remaining on my palette and painted the background. I still find it hard to not use up all the paint I mix!

Makes me want to smell em!!
Thanks, Pat!
Lovely, lovely, lovely. They remind me of the "Peace" rose. A lovely creamy pale yellow with a peachy colored center - my Mom's very favorite. Beautiful work, Joyce.
Thanks so much for your article, quite helpful material.
