I live in rural New Brunswick which provides most of the subject matter of my paintings. I have a three-wheeled bicycle with a large basket on the back where I can store my paints, a chair and a table and anything else needed. When I am painting, I am in a world of pure concentration. My goal is to create spontaneous, balanced and authentic works of art with the hope that people who see my art will feel the same kind of pleasure that I do.
My two favourite things about your paintings: 1. Your layering of complimentary colours in unexpected but glorious ways. Tis the mark of a real artist's eye, that use... 2. Your fearlessness in taking on all the details. You don't just paint a tree, you paint all the trees and vines and undergrowth and dead branches that you see there. It takes a long time to train your noggin to organise visual information in such a way as to facilitate expression with art. That's a knack I still struggle with, and doubt I'll ever find it in me to capture detail as you do. Kudos, forever kudos. Oh, and Happy Christmas, too!
Thanks, Lorien, for your visit and kind comments. It is true that I don't see the same things in my work that you do. You give me a fresh view of things.
